The UK's maritime climate and the favourable influence of the Gulf Stream mean that the UK is surprisingly promising territory for growing grapes. As global warming becomes a reality of life, more and more Continental winemakers are casting their eye beyond those white cliffs, to areas like Sussex and Dorset. Sparkling wines are going from strength to strength and a recognisable light, aromatic quality is strongly associated with our still white wines.
