Chateauneuf du Pape
Historic southern-Rhone appellation known primarily for intense, full bodied red wines. The vineyards are characterised by their round, 'pudding-stones' which store heat and keep the ground warm during the nights. This helps the grapes achieve an added ripeness.
13 grape varieties are permitted and the grapes must be hand-harvested and manually sorted. Most Chateauneuf-du-Pape is red, although some white is made from Clairette, Rousanne, Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc.
