Cotes du Roussillon

This appellation stretches from the Pyrennes to the Mediterranean Sea, around the town of Perpignan. Red blends are produced from varieties which fair well in the hot, dry conditions. Roussillon also produces highly individual sweet or fortified wines, from modern, fruit-driven wines to traditional oxidised styles. The appellations of Muscat de Rivesaltes, Maury and Banyuls are famous for these idiosyncratic styles.
