Sicily

Sicily is Italy's largest wine region and yet is still finding it's feet in many respects. There are 20 quality DOC regions, but only 2.5% is sold within this. However a handful of fantastic producers make great wines from both local and international varieties, with the best centred on the mountainous interior and from the slopes of Mount Etna, where the climate is cooler.
