Hunter Valley

This famous region is stunning: a great place to visit vineyards and restaurants. Despite it's historic status, it's actually quite a difficult place to grow grapes, suffering both from drought and from heavy rainstorms which put the crop at danger of rot. The best wines from the Hunter are Semillon (an aged Semillon can be something really special) and Shiraz.
