Camel Valley at The Scarlet Hotel

Top Cornish wine producer Camel Valley is teaming up with boutique retreat The Scarlet Hotel, for a evening of great-tasting decadence on the 31st May. (NB New Date!)

Camel Valley has been producing award-winning wines in North Cornwall since 1989. The vineyard is situated on south-facing slopes perched above the Camel River. Species-selection is carefully tailored to soil and climate, and the vines are meticulously managed to make the most of the sunny aspect. A respect for traditional vineyard practices combined with a modern approach to winemaking has made Camel Valley one of the leading producers of still and sparkling wine in the UK.

The sparkling wines in particular have met with enormous success in terms of awards, and Sam Lindo was named winemaker of the year in 2007, 2010 and 2011. Sam will be hosting the dinner at the invitation of Food and Beverage Manager Meeche Hudd. "Sam has a really interesting wealth of experience and is clearly passionate about English wine in general, and in particular what Camel Valley has acheived," explained Meeche. "The dinner will be the perfect opportunity to quiz him about the trials and tribulations of making wine in the this climate. The event will have the informal feel of a dinner party, and will showcase what we do here at The Scarlet."

Wines for the evening will be expertly matched with food by Meeche and Head Chef Tom Hunter. The menu will reflect the best of seasonal produce; a perfect foil for these delicious local wines.
