September is all about blackberries -scour the hedgerows at every opportunity! And don't forget the delicious damson, which is good for more than just gin. Native oysters are just beginning to come into season, as are the nation's favourite vegetable, the brussel sprout! October is great for apples and pears, as well as those lovely earthy vegetables - beetroot, celeriac and artichokes. As the nights lengthen, turn to venison, duck and feathered game for sustenance, with chestnuts and dates to accompany.
