Top Award for Paul Ainsworth at No.6

One of Cornwall's top chefs received well-deserved national recognition this week, when Paul Ainsworth's restaurant in Padstow secured the title 'Restaurant of the Year' (outside of London), as well as coming out as overall winner in the restaurant category at the Food and Travel Awards 2013.

The awards were voted for by readers of the sumptuous magazine Food and Travel over a period of three months. The ceremony was held at The Savoy Hotel, where guests were treated to food by José Pizarro (of José and Pizarro, in London), Tom Kerridge (The Hand & Flowers, Buckinghamshire) and Michael Caines MBE (Gidleigh Park, Devon).

The evening saw the South West triumph in several categories. Nathan Outlaw's British Seafood, which has been inspiring us all summer, won 'Book of the Year'. Paul's neighbours in Padstow, The Seafood Restaurant, was crowned as 'Timeless Classic'. Finally The Salthouse in St Ives claimed the top spot in the B&B category.
