Bordeaux

Bordeaux is quite northerly, but the moderating maritime influence and long hours of sunshine during the ripening season result in beautifully balanced, complex wines, though they vary from vintage to vintage. The skill is often in blending the available grape varieties to achieve consistently fine, expressive wines each year. Grape varieties used are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle.
