Wrattonbully

Wrattonbully wine region is located in the Limestone Coast area, in the south eastern part of South Australia. Grape vines were first planted in 1885, but it wasn't until the 1960s that proper wine varietals were cultivated. Vineyards are located on ridges of well-drained terra rosa soil on top of limestone, which attracted the attention of winemakers due to their similarity to the best spots of neighbouring Coonawarra and Padthaway. Their full potential is only just being realised by producers such as Tapanappa, as the vineyards mature and winemakers begin to understand the unique quality of Wrattonbully fruit.
