Las Gavias Garnacha (Campo de Borja) 75cl

Quick Overview

Splendid aromas of crushed fresh cherries; and a gorgeous gush of black cherry and raspberry, with a smudge of tannin bringing some substance too. Very easy-drinking and would make a very good accompaniment to a barbecue.

Despite being recognised as the homeland of Garnacha, grown and tended to by the ancient Romans some 2000 years ago, it was not until 1980 that Campo de Borja was finally recognised as a DOC. The vineyards here are rows of old bush vines ranging from 40 to 60 years old. This particular Garnacha, Las Gavias, steeps in its own skins for four days before the fermentation process is kickstarted by the addition of natural yeasts. It has a bright, fresh violet colour in the glass, from which black cherry fruit with mineral undertones emerge. A medium bodied, fresh and silky Garnacha.
